Our Projects

Dale Kidd

Our friend, Dale Kidd, passed away on December 12, 2009, after a month-long battle with the H1N1 virus. Dale was an exceptional musician and a friend and mentor to many singers, songwriters and performers in the Madison, Wisconsin, area. Visit his website to hear his music, watch videos of his performances and read the many heartfelt messages left by friends, colleagues and acquaintances, all of whom have been touched in some way by Dale’s music, his friendship and his unforgetable laugh.

calicoDrifters

calicoDrifters is the dynamic duo of Four Miles to May-er Thomas Burns and fabulous vocalist Sue Prodell. They perform an eclectic, unique and compelling mix of traditional and contemporary folk, pop and indie pop, jazz, blues and country music. Their non-standard take on the standards and their lonesome originals will leave you wanting more. (A few of their CDs in your pocket may alleviate that longing.) If you have an opportunity to hear them play, do. They perform once or twice a month in the Madison, Wisconsin, area. You can find all of the details at their website.

Preposterone

Have you ever scoffed at the absurdity of an action movie, then watched it again the next day or added it to your top-ten list of favorite movies of all time? Like the folks here at Four Miles to May, you may be a fan of Preposterone, that special brand of hugely enjoyable film that combines copious amounts of preposterous-ness with one of our two favorite hormones, testosterone. Check out the website for reviews and links to the Netflix catalog. You can write a review of your own, if you like, comment on other people’s reviews and generally add to the Very Important Discussion of what makes an action movie great.

The Green Season

Many residents of the north long all winter for the green season, the snow-free time of year when mucking about in the garden is a Saturday morning ritual. Four Miles to May-er Joyce Johnston is one of those northerners and The Green Season is her ode to spring, summer and fall. Check out the website for book reviews, garden and plant ideas, and other garden-related miscellania and minutia geared toward people whose compost piles are frozen three months of the year.
